Welcome to the window looking into Redlands Christian School’s lower school. I am glad that you have taken the time to peer into our school site. At RCS, we are about great families and have an amazing faculty and staff partnering in bringing up our preschool through fifth grade students in the love of Christ.
What does it mean to bring up our students? The most direct word is to educate. Dr. Paul A Kienel, one of the fathers of modern Christian education, states that “the mission of education is the orderly transmission of truth from one generation to the next.” This simple statement has three meanings. First, it gives the directive that education must be orderly. At RCS, our teachers progressively move from objective to objective through the curriculum while creatively teaching to the different learning styles. Our goal is to stretch each student academically, socially, and spiritually to grow to their full potential. Secondly, education is only real truth when it is centered in Christ and His word. True wisdom is only found where knowledge joins godly values. Using God’s Word as a filter through which all knowledge flows, enables the learner to see truth at its purest form. The final point made is that the transmission of this truthcomes by way of those of us who educate as we pass it on to the next generation. As our lives are surrendered and focused on our Lord, our success will be shown when our children carry on the work and follow us as we follow Christ.
As parents, it is a huge undertaking to train up our children. In the book of Deuteronomy, God tells us that it is our duty to impress upon our kids the importance of following after Him. RCS exists to partner with you and the church in bringing up our students in His ways. As you contemplate one of the most important decisions you will have to make in your child’s life, my prayer is that you will consider RCS to be the place to help you in carrying out this responsibility.
Thanks again for visiting. I hope that as you travel through our site you will receive a clear picture of what a wonderful school RCS is. If I can be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
God bless you,
Lower School Principal
