Weekly Eagle News - Lower School
Lower School Parents,
That’s a wrap on the 22-23 school year! As we look back on the school year, we have so much to be grateful to God for. We have had the privilege of seeing God faithfully grow all of our students academically, socially, and spiritually since last August. Those who attended last Thursday’s Fifth Grade Promotion got to hear many of our fifth graders testify of the impact that the RCS Lower School has had on their lives as they shared their favorite RCS memories, reflected on their Blessing Bags experiences, and recounted how they have grown in their knowledge of and love for Christ over their LS years. It is our ongoing prayer for all of our students each year that they would learn more about Jesus and learn to walk more closely with Him as they build memories with their classmates and teachers. As we head into summer, I encourage you to spend an ice cream date or dinner time with your student reflecting on how God specifically grew him/her over the past school year and hearing what his/her favorite memories from the year were.
On Friday, June 2nd the LS Lost & Found will be emptied and any remaining items will be donated to a local charity. If you find that your student made it home from the last day of school without a jacket, lunch box, water bottle, etc., please swing by campus next Tuesday-Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM to check the Lost and Found.
If you need to pick up Scrip orders this summer, all Scrip cards will be picked up from the US campus. The Scrip office is open between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM Mondays through Thursdays beginning Tuesday 5/30.
Last week I encouraged you and your students to spend time reading this summer. Our librarians have created a Summer Reading Adventure Passport for our rising Kindergarten to rising 5th grade students. Students can return their completed reading log by 8/30 to earn their reading reward!
This will be the final Weekly Eagle of the school year but keep an eye out for the Summer Newsletter that will be delivered to families mid to late July! The Summer Newsletter will contain information about arrival and dismissal procedures, Extended Care and SOAR opportunities, the hot lunch program, dress code, school supplies, and more. 2023-24 class rosters will be released in early August. Please go ahead and mark your calendars for our Lower School Back to School Open House the morning of Tuesday, August 15th! This will be an opportunity for you and your students to come to campus to meet homeroom teachers and learn more about the school year ahead. The first day of the 2023-24 school year will be Wednesday, August 16th. For your reference, the 2023-24 school calendar can be accessed on the RCS website or viewed here. We hope to see many of your students on campus for SOAR and Extended Care programs this summer and look forward to seeing everyone again in August! Happy summer!
Thanks,
Laura Vedas
LS Principal
